Garden design

Your garden can be a reflection of your lifestyle. A place to relax, entertain, enjoy home grown food, and connect with nature. A well-designed garden enhances not only the beauty of your outdoor space but also its functionality, transforming it into an extension of your home.

You may want a beautiful space for hosting gatherings, or to create a haven for wildlife. Perhaps you have dreams of self-sufficiency and growing your own food. Thoughtful garden design can bring your vision to life.

With my diverse experience in sustainable horticulture, and passion for garden planning, I create outdoor spaces tailored to your needs and personality. Cohesive and functional landscapes which thrive year-round, incorporate sustainable practices, and can increase the value of your home.

Design process and scale of fees

A - Consultation + design

1. Initial consultation and advice session

£70 for 1.5 hour session

£20 for every additional 30 minutes

Every design begins with a meeting in your garden. We’ll discuss your requirements and any ideas that you’ve already had. You’ll be able to ask me questions relating to the design. I can advise on what is possible and any issues which may prevent certain ideas from being possible.

After this session, I will send you a short Design Brief outlining what you want from your new garden design.

2. Site plan and proposed garden layout plan

c. £150 for small or less complex gardens

c. £300 for larger or more complex gardens

POA for very large gardens and estates

Once you’ve decided to move forward with the design process, I will re-visit your garden to take measurements and photos. I will use these to create a site plan.

Using this site plan, and based on information from our initial consultation, I will create a proposed garden layout plan. This will include my recommendations for the general layout of the garden.

The garden layout plan will show the position of any hard landscaped and naturally vegetated or planted areas.  It will give a feel for the overall layout of your garden, but will not contain specific planting plans or hard landscape specifications.

I will then use your feedback to refine this plan until your are happy with the new garden layout.

3. Detailed planting plan

c. £150 for small or less complex gardens

c. £300 for larger or more complex gardens

POA for very large gardens or estates

Based on the previous design steps and our communication, I will begin to formulate a detailed planting plan.

This will contain specific plant species and cultivars that I believe to be well suited to your taste and garden environment.  This plan will also hold specifications for all of the hard landscaped features within your garden.

Based on your feedback, I will adjust the planting plan until your are happy with the final design.

1. Planning the overall stages and timeline of the project

2. Liaising with any external contractors (hard landscapers, electricians, plumbers etc.) that are required for the project

3. Completing any plant-focused horticultural work

4. Updating you (the client) with progress and ensuring you are satisfied throughout the project
